Resin conversion for the ESCI kit for the VTOL F-104. History This project was suggested by the Ryan Aeronautical test pilot Peter Girard who had tested the well known X-13 Vertijet. The aircraft was to have one triangular rotor wing which had swiveling tips. They worked as helicopter blades during take-off and were straightened on the fixed wing in horizontal flight. The rotor torque was to be compensated by compressed air flow from the rear fuselage gills. Peter Girard proposed to built the test aircraft utilizing the same layout but with two counter rotating wings. The success of the Hawker Harrier made such exotic projects senseless.
